It's called FAMILY Crochet with a Cause. I contacted Melissa Carpenter, Organizer to get more information about the organization. I know many people who would be interested in participating besides myself. She explained to me about their cause.
Their mission is to help women and men all across the US who are experiencing hardships due to unemployment, who know longer can work because of illness or aging out of their previous profession by knitting and crocheting items.
They believe in creating paths to bring creative, talented individuals together, and to lend a hand to help those who have been touched by circumstance.
FAMILY creates new opportunities while doing something they are passionate about. How wonderful is that!
They are working with local, independent farms that raise thier plants and animals organically. Their first outreach is to bring together women and men who have a love of crochet, by working with volunteer agencies that have programs for the unemployed and elderly.
Production will be based solely within the United States. Right now crochet circles are being organized in Long Beach, CA.
The charitable donations go directly to the artisans in an effort to assist them in rebuilding their lives. Melissa hopes to take FAMILY countrywide.
What a great organization to belong to. If you are interested in participating, please
