I am a self-enrichment education teacher located in San Gabriel. For the past 20 years, I have taught knitting and crocheting to adults and seniors all over the Los Angeles area. I am a professional instructor and certified with the Craft Yarn Council of America and The Knitting Guild of America.
When I as a child my grandmother taught me how to crochet and sew. I created clothes for my Barbie dolls and Teddy bears. In junior high school, I continued to sew and learned a little about knitting from my Home Economics teachers. Many years later I enrolled in weaving and knitting classes at Weaving West in Santa Monica. There I studied knitting with Denyse Specktor aka the big yarn.
I graduated from Cal State Northridge in Home Economics, Textiles & Clothing. Also studied sewing and patternmaking at LA Trade-Tech and Otis-Parsons School of Design. Work at Motherhood Maternity as a Trim & Findings Buyer for several years before I entered the Aerospace Industry and teaching.
In the 1990's I met Yo Furuta former distributor of Clover and Nihon Vogue magazines at her warehouse in Carson. She introduced to me Symbolcraft and how to decipher knit and crochet patterns without knowing how to read Japanese. It's like the saying goes "a picture is worth a thousand words."
My teaching style to others is visionary. I always seek out of the box ideas to help others in achieving their individual journeys with the Needle Arts. I have been told that I am a very resourceful and creative person. I enjoy sharing with others.
This is my passion.
